Thongmongkol Community Enterprise is enthusiastic about driving the planting of cannabis plants.
Mr. Chamlong Deethong-on, chairman of the community enterprise for processing medicinal plants for health and ecotourism said that on February 8, 2022, the group attended a press conference with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of Public Health. The Department of Community Development, Thong Mongkhon Sub-district has been following the steps that have been made with the Department of Thai Traditional Medicine to build a cannabis cultivation greenhouse for the department under an MOA since 2021. Currently, there are more than 60 members joining the project, and the group is going through the process to receive operation permission from the FDA, Bang Saphan Cooperative Industrial Estate, and Provincial Health Office.
After Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, gave a green light to cannabis cultivation on February 8, 2022, the development of cannabis has been promoted to benefit farmers, businesses, and people. The world cannabis market is worth 500 billion baht, growing by more than 17% with the medical and health industry accounted for 70% of the total value. The Thai government, therefore, is encouraging the development of cannabis product champions to boost the national economy.
