Tina, a 10-month-old baby girl, died of COVID-19 after 2 weeks of infection, considered the youngest death in Krabi Province.
On March 27, 2022, reporters reported that rescue workers from Krabi, Phithak Pracha Foundation, Krabi, took the body of Miss Nisarat Khaosud or Tina, a 10-month-old baby girl who died of COVID-19 from Krabi Hospital to the funeral at Phokachuthamat Temple in the municipality of Krabi.
Ms. Maneerat Kong-iad, 26, a Phatthalung native, and the girl’s mother revealed that her daughter had been infected with COVID-19 by her father working in Koh Lanta since March 12. After that, she was admitted to Koh Lanta Hospital for 6 days and her symptoms did not improve. Therefore, she was sent to Krabi Hospital for treatment. Until yesterday (March 26) her mother was notified by Krabi Hospital that her body deteriorated due to an infection in the lungs. The officers tried to help save her life, but in the end, she was unable to make it.

More than 90% will have mild symptoms, but there are groups that need to be especially careful, namely children less than 1-year-old and children with severe congenital diseases such as heart disease, lung disease, chronic renal failure. or low immunity, so touching or kissing the cheeks of young children should be refrained. The incubation period for COVID-19 is within 14 days, but symptoms appear four to five days after being infected. The necessary equipment is a thermometer, pain relievers, antipyretics, and cough medicine. A fingertip oximeter is rarely needed due to less accuracy caused by the size of the device that does not fit the child’s finger. The initial treatment is symptomatic support as follows;
- If with fever or headache, take antipyretic. Most of them will have fever for less than 2-3 days, and will gradually improve.
- If you have a runny nose, take nasal decongestants as needed, or if the mucus is thick green, in older children, the nose can be rinsed with saline.
- If you have a cough, take cough medicine according to symptoms. and frequent sips of warm water.
- If with fever higher than 39°C, wheezing faster than usual, dimpled chest, flared nose wings, when breathing, cyanotic mouth, fingertip oxygen level less than 95%, drowsy, not suckling, not eating, vomiting or vomiting continuously, immediately bring the child to the hospital according to the medical rights or a hospital in the area of responsibility.
Tina is the 156th person who died of COVID-19 in Krabi Province and is the youngest. Since the outbreak in 2020, from January to March this year, there have been 56 cases of COVID-19 deaths. As of today, March 28, 2022, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported that the national epidemic still needs to be closely monitored, with 24,635 new cases of COVID-19 found today.
