Thailand encourages people to wear masks

Thailand reminds people to continue wearing face masks indoors and outdoors even as other disease control measures are lifted.

General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand, has asked everyone to continue wearing masks, especially during public activities and large gatherings. Indeed, this is when the virus spreads the most. During his visit to Japan to attend the Nikkei Forum, he made these remarks.

Following reports of a slight increase in new cases a week into the new school year, the Prime Minister later asked schools to continue to look after the welfare of their students.

Following reports of a slight increase in new cases a week into the new school year, the Prime Minister later asked schools to continue to look after the welfare of their students.

The new cases are mostly from boarding schools where students can come into contact without wearing masks. This makes it easier for the virus to spread. Infected students are being isolated and treated without the need for the entire school to be shut down.

General Prayut also asked schools to remind students about COVID-19 prevention measures, while urging all parties to work together to ensure school health and safety.
