Private Businesses Urge Delay on Land and Building Tax Collection

Date:

The Finance Ministry has ordered the FPO to look into a proposal by private sector companies to reduce the collection of building and land taxes due to the effects of the pandemic. This came after the companies complained that they were struggling with the effects of the war in Ukraine and the pandemic.

FPO Secretary-General Arkhom said the agency would look into the matter with the Interior Ministry to see if the government can help affected companies. However, he noted that the implementation of measures related to the land and building tax needs to be carefully considered.

In response to the pandemic’s devastating effects, the government reduced the building and land tax by 90% in 2020. However, this measure was not extended. As a result, the tax relief was only available for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
