Tourism in the Three Mist City will benefit from an intelligent electric grid system, or smart grid.

Date:

Through a contract signed with Italthai Engineering, EGAT and Mae Hong Son Province will jointly develop a smart grid project that will help build a stable and resilient electrical system. The project will also promote green tourism in the province. The Deputy Governor of EGAT, Prasertsak Choengchawano, signed a contract with Italthai Engineering on behalf of EGAT to purchase and construct a smart grid project in Mae Hong Son Province. He was accompanied by Mr. Sakon Laoswan, the chief executive officer of Italthai Engineering, and Mr. Chaiyot Wongwaitayakonkul, the company’s chief operating officer. The ceremony was held at EGAT’s 50 Years Building in Nonthaburi Province. According to the Deputy Governor, the project, which is a pilot project, will help develop a smart grid system in Mae Hong Son Province. It will help solve the electricity problems in the province by connecting all the power plants in the area. The smart grid project will also help prevent power outages. The project will also help develop a micro grid control center system, which will help manage the electricity production and use of the system in a balanced manner. EGAT will also make the project a center for learning and joint development. To make Thailand a leader in the smart grid technology and applications industry, the province will also build a solar power plant that will have a capacity of 3 megawatts and a battery energy storage system that will have a capacity of 4 megawatts. The project is scheduled to be finished in December 2022. Aside from the smart grid project, the project will also help develop a network of electric vehicle charging stations and electric buses in Mae Hong Son Province. These will serve the people and promote green tourism in the area. A learning center will also be established to provide training and advice on energy and arts and culture. The construction of the smart grid project will also help develop an activity yard in Mae Hong Son Province, which will allow the community to sell their products. Mr. Sakon Laoswan, the chief executive officer of Italthai Engineering, said that the company’s signing of the contract with EGAT is a great achievement for the company.
