Phuket hosts the “Deep Week Thailand”, an international event attracting the best divers in the world

This event, which took place from May 14 to 21, 2022, attracted over 160 experts and passionate people from 20 different countries.

The “Deep Week Thailand” was chaired by Adam Stern a famous Australian free diver, he was accompanied by other divers no less famous such as the Russian Alexey Molchanov number one world of free diving or the French Thibault Guignes who holds many international records.

The “Deep Week Thailand” brings together the best free divers, dive instructors and experts from around the world in the beautiful seaside destination of Phuket, the ideal place to practice free diving. This unique meeting allows experts to share their knowledge and communicate their passion to snorkelers through online training, in-pool sessions, workshops, etc.

The international impact of this event puts Phuket and Thailand on the same league as Croatia, the Philippines and Indonesia (Bali) which have already hosted a similar event in the past.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomes the success of the event, Ms. Parichart Boonclai, Director of Publicity and Public Relations said: “TAT is pleased to support the organization of the Deep Week Thailand event to celebrate the reopening of the country and reiterate Phuket’s exceptional public safety and health measures. The event also helped show the world that Thailand offers new tourism experiences, such as sports tourism, one of the main areas marketed under the “Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters” campaign.

Ms. Nantasiri Ronnasiri, Director of TAT’s Phuket office, said, “Phuket province is once again ready to welcome tourists with its beautiful natural scenery, fantastic food, world-class facilities for marine activities, and renowned wellness resorts and sports centers. Deep Week Thailand has raised awareness of Phuket’s readiness and capabilities as a tourism hub in the Southeast Asian region, as well as a center for the increasingly popular snorkeling activities.”

This event will undoubtedly stimulate economic growth and further promote the tourism potential of the beautiful Phuket region.
