Thailand 5G 2022 summit invites companies to take advantage of the new technology

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha recently presided over the opening ceremony of the Thailand 5G Summit 2022 held at the Bangkok Convention Center. The conference was organized by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and private sector co-organizers. Among the private companies were telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies of Thailand and the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), which represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide.

The Prime Minister said the MDES has been mandated to set a political strategy to promote the use of 5G technology in Thailand. This will help to deploy telecommunication infrastructure optimized for 5G and will promote the development of new products and services.

The Prime Minister said that this year’s summit will establish the basis for network development in Thailand in collaboration with foreign countries. The Thailand 5G 2022 Summit also provides an opportunity to demonstrate Thailand’s 5G potential and the readiness of its telecommunications infrastructure to host this new technology. In addition, the Prime Minister invites companies to develop digital technologies and innovations to improve the country’s competitiveness and boost the digital economy. The digital summit will also contribute to the country’s efforts to become a regional leader in 5G technology.

Mr. Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said that technological and digital innovations are essential to promote the use of 5G, and these innovations will also generate new business and service opportunities for the commercial and civic sectors.
