The commerce ministry advises retailers and wholesalers to maintain a sufficient supply of goods on hand in the event of flooding.

Date:

The commerce ministry is actively monitoring water situation changes in each community as floods sweep across numerous sections of Thailand. Stores and distributors are instructed to stock up on goods so that locations that flood don’t run out.

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit has voiced worry about the current flood scenario. He has directed the Permanent Secretary’s Office in the Ministry of Commerce to request that provincial commerce offices monitor the water status in various locations.

The Department of Internal Trade has also been directed to check goods distribution facilities around the country. Retailers and distributors will be advised to stock up on enough supplies, particularly in flood-affected regions.

This is to guarantee that flood victims are not inconvenienced further by goods shortages. Making sure there are enough supplies will also make it simpler for individuals to help and for relief to be supplied.

Minister Jurin has directed provincial commerce offices to be wary of opportunistic pricing increases or profiteering. Such measures, he claims, are illegal and would compound the misery of flood victims.

The trade minister claimed that his ministry will work hard to minimize supply shortages and opportunistic price rises.
