King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana of Thailand tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday evening, the Royal Household Bureau announced on Saturday.
The king and queen experienced mild symptoms from the infection and are in good health overall. According to a statement issued by the Bureau of the Royal Household, their doctors have advised them to temporarily refrain from royal duties.
According to the most recent weekly report issued by the Ministry of Public Health, Thailand reported 3,961 new COVID-19 infections in hospitalized patients from December 4–10, bringing the total number of infections since the pandemic’s outbreak to more than 4.7 million.
During the period, an additional 107 deaths were reported, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the country to 33,392.
