Up to 11.5 million visitors are expected this year

TAT, or Thailand’s National Travel and Tourism Organisation, predicts that the country would get 15% more tourists than expected by the end of 2022.

Tourist Authority of Thailand Governor Yuthasak Supasorn predicts that the swell of European and American visitors in the year’s closing weeks would push total arrivals to 11.5 million, above the government’s aim of 10 million tourists. As of the 20th of December, the government has recorded 10.9 million arrivals from abroad.

The TAT governor also predicted that the industry as a whole, not only international tourism, will generate 1.5 trillion baht in earnings this year. In 2023, the TAT predicts total income of 2.38 trillion baht, with around 1.5 trillion baht coming from overseas tourists. The TAT has also been committed to its 20 million visitor goal by 2023.
