Bangkok continues to be one of Asia’s most popular tourist spots

Date:

The government of Thailand is anticipating no less than 20 million foreign tourists this year, indicating that the country’s tourism industry would see a robust comeback.

Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is bustling with celebratory events. Also, Hopper, a travel website and app based in Canada, reports a 27% increase in international ticket searches from North America, with Bangkok coming in as the third most sought after destination in Asia, behind only Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed appreciation to the tourist industry, transportation sector, hospitality industry, and others for their roles in implementing the government’s tourism expansion program, which is essential to the economic revival of the country.

A target of 80% of pre-pandemic tourism earnings and 50% of pre-pandemic foreign tourist numbers have been established for this year. These goals are equivalent to 2.38 trillion baht in income and at least 20 million tourists, not counting the 180 million from mainland China and locals.
