Many Thai businesses are getting ready to receive Chinese visitors, who will likely begin arriving soon now that China has relaxed its travel restrictions. As of now, the first 3 months of this year are predicted to see an influx of 300,000 tourists from China to Thailand. Keeping people’s well-being and health in mind, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered the necessary departments to begin preemptive measures.
Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri said that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has directed the appropriate government agencies to get ready for an increase in the number of international visitors in 2023. As they are ready, the agencies should keep health safety and COVID-19 precautions in mind. Meanwhile, relevant organizations will monitor data and the development of COVID measures in different nations.
Meanwhile, Anucha spoke on China’s openness and the freedom of Chinese visitors to travel abroad. According to him, the private sector in Thailand anticipates that around 300,000 Chinese tourists would visit the country in the first quarter of 2023. The result of this is that the original 20 million international tourist arrivals target set by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) for 2023 has been increased to 25 million.
As a result of Thailand relaxing and then abolishing entrance restrictions imposed because of the epidemic, the country’s tourism industry has been slowly but steadily making a comeback. The prime minister is reportedly stressing the need of pursuing economic activity alongside stringent public health measures, as stated by a government official. The goal is to provide a way for individuals of all backgrounds to make money while still respecting international COVID-19 standards.
The prime minister, Anucha said, also wants to see the commercial sector do its part to make Thais warm and welcoming to visitors.
