The Tourism Industry in Phuket Is Booming

Date:

After taking a major hit from the global pandemic, Phuket’s tourist sector has seen a significant resurgence, receiving over 2.3 million people and producing nearly 127 billion baht in revenue during the first ten months of 2022.

Government authorities in Phuket claim that the island’s tourist economy has swiftly recovered from the pandemic’s effects, thanks in large part to the “Phuket Sandbox” model for reopening to foreign visitors and the efforts of local business owners to adapt and rebuild.

CEO of Siam Niramit Phuket Panin Kitiparaporn said the return of visitors to the region is a good omen for local companies because all stage events were canceled for two years during the epidemic.

Even when Bangkok’s equivalent theater shuttered a year ago in October, the local one stayed dark for another year. After extensive restorations and the addition of additional exhibits, this 57-rai site, which was already a famous tourist destination before the epidemic, now gives tourists a full immersion into Thai culture and history.

Director Nanthasiri Ronnasiri of the Phuket Tourism Authority Office has been working with residents to stimulate the local economy.

According to Nanthasiri, tourism in adjacent provinces is likely to increase in the coming months as a result of the success of tourism in Phuket, the top destination in the southern area.
