On January 24th, the National Tourism Policy Committee will discuss whether or not to implement a 300 baht admission charge for international visitors.
The committee will be requested to adopt a uniform fee for visitors coming by air, land, or sea, as stated by Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn. Assuming the plan is accepted, the charge will start being collected on June 1.
Piphat stated that the cost will be waived for persons from surrounding countries who enter Thailand with a border pass and for foreigners with work permits to work in Thailand.
According to Minister Phiphat, entrance fees will be collected in accordance with the recently updated National Tourism Policy Act, which went into effect on May 20, 2019. The legislation permits the government to charge visitors an entrance fee, with the proceeds going into a tourism marketing fund.
