Beginning next month, Chinese officials will allow group visits to twenty countries, with Thailand placed on the list.
Beginning February 6, China will enable travel agencies and internet travel businesses to organize abroad group trips for Chinese residents, according to the Chinese Culture and Tourism Ministry. Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Russia, Switzerland, Hungary, New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba, and Argentina are all covered.
Travelers will be able to buy plane tickets and hotel packages again, in addition to group trips. According to the Chinese Culture and Tourism Ministry, the trial restart is “important in fostering the rehabilitation and growth of the tourism sector.”
It also directed local Chinese officials to supervise travel operators to ensure their excursions follow established processes, and watch for any tours offered with “unreasonably cheap costs”.
Many nations have “given a warm welcome” to Chinese travelers, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Wang Wenbin, while many Chinese residents are eager to travel overseas. He went on to say that the Chinese government is advising its residents to take additional care, monitor their health before leaving, and follow host country health safety requirements to guarantee a pleasant vacation.
