Pink Line Monorail to Debut in 2023

Date:

The Pink Line monorail in Bangkok is anticipated to be operational this year, with work approaching completion at 95%.

The 53.5-billion-baht public transportation project, which has been in the works since 2016, would connect Khae Rai in Nonthaburi to Min Buri in east Bangkok, aiming to alleviate chronic traffic congestion in northern Bangkok.

The 34.5-kilometer-long monorail line will make 30 stops along the route, beginning at Nonthaburi Civic Center Station and connecting to the MRT Purple Line, and terminating at Min Buri Station, which will connect to the currently under construction Orange Line.

Passengers will be able to transfer to the Impact Link branch line at Min Buri station, which is slated to open in 2025. The branch line will have three stops and will eventually link to the SRT’s Red Line, BTS’s Green Line, and MRT’s Grey and Brown lines.

The branch line’s construction is approximately 10.5% complete, with 13.45% of the civil construction work completed and 4.5% of the train signaling equipment installed.

The government expects that the new train lines would provide an affordable, convenient, and environmentally friendly option for city commuters while also reducing road congestion.
