Education Ministry promotes science and coding in schools

Date:

The Ministry of Education continues to highlight science and coding as key skills for schoolchildren, having recently begun a push to deliver coding training to elementary school kids.

Education Minister Trinuch Thienthong and Deputy Education Minister Kalaya Sophonpanich recently led a team of Ministry officials to meet with Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha to push this program.

The effort, which is aligned with the government’s strategy of promoting science, innovation, and computer education, intends to deliver coding lessons to elementary school pupils in order to increase the nation’s potential for creativity and generate new researchers and innovators.

At the meeting, the premier also met with Dr Supreeda Aduyanon, manager of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, and officials from connected agencies and partners to promote the Creative School Break program. This campaign encourages youngsters to participate in productive activities outside of the classroom.

On March 11, the foundation will reveal the campaign’s action schedule, which will include Bangkok, Uttaradit, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Yala, as well as 25 additional provinces around the country. The campaign is designed to be self-sufficient and sustainable, with involvement from government agencies, commercial companies, and community learning centers.
