SRT Seeks Business Bids to Build New Rail Hub

Date:

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has issued a request for proposals for commercial development at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and stations along Bangkok’s Red Line.

According to SRT Public Relations Director Ekarat Sri-arayanpong, the commercial development, which will include stores, restaurants, and lodging for commuters and visitors, would be divided into four contracts.

The first contract will manage the use of 47,675 square meters of commercial space, while the second will oversee the use of 3,759 square meters across 12 Bangkok Red Line stations. Taling Chan, Bang Bamru, Bang Son, Chatuchak, Wat Samian Nari, Bang Khen, Thung Song Hong, Laksi, Kan Kheha, Don Mueang, Lak Hok (Rangsit University), and Rangsit stations are among them.

The third contract covers 2,303 square meters of advertising space, while the final deal covers 2,080 square meters of advertising space at the Red Line’s 12 stops.

On March 14 and April 28, interested parties can acquire bid envelopes from the SRT. Bidders must submit ideas by July 4th and 5th. The winners will get a 20-year concession, and the SRT expects to collect around 360 million baht per year from the development of the stations, or almost 7 billion baht over the next two decades.
