After the declaration of parliamentary dissolution on Monday, the Electoral Commission has set May 14 as the date for the general election. Applications for MP candidates will be accepted beginning in the first week of April.
The date was chosen unanimously at a commissioner meeting today, marking the 55th day of the 60-day period in which the election must take place.
The Electoral Commission has set the deadline for MP candidates to apply during the first week of April. Applications for constituency MP candidates will be taken between the 3rd and 7th of April, while applications for party-list candidates will be accepted between the 4th and 7th of April.
Candidates are expected to apply at the Thai-Japanese Bangkok Youth Center for constituency MP candidates and Bangkok’s Second City Hall for party-list candidates. Both of these locations are in the capital’s Din Daeng district.
These schedules will be presented to the interim Cabinet for approval and publication in the Royal Gazette.
