The government is taking initiatives to increase knowledge of and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in both the public and private sectors, with the goal of increasing trust in Thailand’s data protection policies.
The seminar, dubbed “PDPA Moving Ahead,” was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, with the goal of raising awareness about personal data protection and developing a cooperative network to modernize personal data protection initiatives in Thailand.
This modernization project will adhere to justice values and assure conformity with worldwide standards, giving Thailand’s personal data protection systems more credibility. This, in turn, helps to Thailand’s economy’s long-term development.
Gen Prawit presided at the signing of a collaboration pact between the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), the Electronic Transactions Development Agency, and National Telecom Plc. He also praised the PDPC’s partner agencies and presented a plaque to the winner of a design contest for the office’s logo.
The 2019 Personal Data Protection Act went into effect on June 1, 2022, following the formation of the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee and the drafting of 21 legislation subordinate to the act.
