The ceremony took place at the Hua Hin Red Cross Station, a prestigious venue in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan.

World Blood Donor Day is observed annually on June 14th. It coincides with the birthday of Dr. Karl Landsteiner, the discoverer of the ABO blood group system, which holds significant importance for global blood services. The event is organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Society of Blood Transfusion. They extend invitations to blood centers worldwide to hold celebratory activities as a gesture of gratitude to blood donors worldwide.

In this regard, the Hua Hin Subdistrict Red Cross, in collaboration with the Hua Hin Red Cross Station, organized the World Blood Donor Day 2566 (2023) event from April 12th to 16th, 2566 (2023) from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM. The event featured blood, organ, and cornea donations, as well as a banquet to express gratitude to blood donors participating in the event. Today, approximately 90,000 cc of blood was donated, and throughout the event, a total of over 230,000 cc of blood will be collected to be utilized for patient assistance at Thai Red Cross centers. As a token of appreciation, blood donors received World Blood Donor Day T-shirts.

This event aimed to express gratitude to blood donors, commend their contributions, emphasize the importance of their involvement in assisting patients, and encourage new donors to increase the frequency of their blood donations. Regular blood donation is considered a selfless act, a gift of life to fellow human beings, without expecting anything in return. It is a precious gift, indeed.
