Today, reporters announced that Mr. Poramet Ngamphichet, Mayor of Pattaya City, together with Mr. Sutharak Soonthornwiphat, Manager of the Special Area Office 3, and Miss Chalida Aubumrungchit, Director of the Film Archive, officially inaugurated the 1st Pattaya Movie On The Beach Film Festival. The four-day event, taking place from June 16th to 19th, has attracted a diverse array of esteemed guests, both Thai and foreign, who have come together to enjoy the bustling atmosphere and cinematic offerings.
The Pattaya Movie on the Beach event marks a significant milestone as the first-ever movie screening event to be held on the beach in Pattaya. Organized as part of the 1st Pattaya Film Festival, this event is part of a long-term project supported by the city and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA). The ultimate goal is to establish Pattaya as a City of Film in accordance with UNESCO’s Creative City Policy. The initiative aims not only to attract Thai and international film crews to utilize Pattaya as a filming location but also to foster a cultural environment where film serves as a means of creative expression, adds economic value, and utilizes educational films to promote diversity and free expression.
This festival also coincides with Pride month, celebrating gender diversity. It showcases Pattaya on Screen, featuring Thai movies that have utilized Pattaya as a vibrant backdrop, showcasing its unique seaside charm. The lineup includes award-winning short films from student contests in the Bang Lamung District, Pattaya, such as “The Last Song,” “It Gets Better,” and “Lightning Rod.” For those interested in further updates, the Pattaya Film Festival Facebook page provides additional information about the event.
