Stone Head Band makes sure ‘Rock n’ Roll never dies’ at El Toro Loco in Soi. 102. Playing as a house band, the three-member band shares a passion for classic rock along with Mexican and international food
Stone Head Band was formed in 2001 with three members: Cartoon who is a leading vocalist, guitarist, and owner of El Toro Loco, Keng who is a drummer; and Pian who is a bass player. They believe that classic rock is real music that shares emotions and requires a challenging set of skills to play songs from world-famous bands. From 8 PM to 11:30 PM daily, the band passionately performs a wide range of rock classics from renowned bands and artists such as AC/DC, Metallica, Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi, Bad Company, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, UFO, Santana, Queen, Iron Maiden, Dio, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Guns N’ Roses, Uriah Heep, Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, and many more. The band is highly skilled and can make you feel as if you were listening to real bands. In February 2023, the band just celebrated its 20th anniversary with a great barbeque party, marking its legendary and successful existence.
“If I want to play something, I want to play something influential”, shared Pian who chose to be part of Stone Head Band because he believes rock music is a global phenomenon that has had a significant impact on various dimensions of life such as popular culture, shaping fashion, attitudes, and social movements. “When I play rock, I feel that it drives society,” added Pian who later invited his nephew, Keng, to join the band to share the passion.“I love that I can show difficult skills when playing music. Rock music from world-famous bands is really challenging and I’m proud of myself I can play them”, said Keng. He also mentioned that rock music is not associated with rebellion, individualism, and counterculture as many people would feel. “Personally for me, it’s the only form of music that helps me express myself very well. It may be seen involved with violence, but I think it’s more about the attitudes and perspectives a band leads that affects the sentiment, not the music itself.”
