Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has extended his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Thailand for their collective efforts in supporting Phuket’s bid to host the prestigious Specialised Expo 2028, known as “Expo 2028 Phuket Thailand.” Despite not clinching the bid, the Prime Minister conveyed his gratitude, acknowledging the remarkable unity and cooperation demonstrated by governmental departments, the private sector, the public, and local communities.
Anucha Buraphachaisri, the Caretaker Government Spokesperson, disclosed the Prime Minister’s expression of thanks following Thailand’s unsuccessful bid. The Specialised Expo 2027/2028, themed “Future of Life: Living in Harmony, Sharing Prosperity,” brought together various stakeholders who showcased their visions and highlighted Thailand’s preparedness to organize the event. However, it was Serbia that emerged victorious as the chosen host for the Specialised Expo. In response, the Prime Minister graciously extended his congratulations to the winning country.
Anucha further emphasized that despite not securing the hosting rights, the extensive preparations undertaken underscore the remarkable collaboration exhibited across all sectors involved. This reassures that Phuket province remains steadfast in its commitment to long-term development plans, with a particular focus on sustainability across multiple facets. These include the improvement of infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and the establishment of a comprehensive medical service center. The collective efforts invested in these endeavors signify Phuket’s dedication to advancing its overall development and ensuring a prosperous future for the region.
Although Thailand may not be the designated host for Expo 2028, the spirit of cooperation and the determination displayed throughout the bid process will undoubtedly contribute to the province’s growth and progress in the years to come.
