Chonburi Province Empowers Growth with Inauguration of High Voltage Power Station 2

Chonburi Province, a thriving economic and tourism hub in Thailand, reached a momentous milestone on July 3, 2023, with the grand opening of Chonburi High Voltage Power Station 2. The auspicious ceremony took place in the scenic Bang Phra Subdistrict of Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, and was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Mr. Niti Wiwatwanich, Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province, Mr. Boonyanit Wongrakmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Pol. Lt. Col. Somboon Uesamarnmaitri, Deputy Superintendent of Sriracha Police Station, and Mr. Ekarat Ketwattha, Bang Phra sub-district headman.

During the event, Mr. Niti Wiwatvanich underscored the continuous economic and tourism growth in Chonburi Province. As a pivotal strategic tourism area and a vibrant center for diverse industries supporting the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development, which encompasses Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Rayong provinces, a stable and ample power system is paramount for sustained long-term progress. The inauguration of Chonburi High Voltage Power Station 2 signifies a significant stride towards establishing a robust and reliable electricity infrastructure capable of meeting the province’s escalating power demands.

Mr. Boonyanit Wongrakmit, EGAT Governor, revealed that Chonburi Province boasts the highest electricity demand in the entire eastern region. In anticipation of the future surge in power requirements, EGAT has diligently undertaken a project to enhance the transmission system across the region, bolstering the stability of the power grid. The completion of Chonburi High Voltage Power Station 2, which commenced operations in late May, amplifies the electricity transmission capacity in the eastern region and specifically in Chonburi Province. This monumental achievement ensures a steady power supply to effectively support industrial investments and facilitate comprehensive growth in the economy, society, and the vibrant tourism sector.

Encompassing a sprawling area of 69 rai, Chonburi High Voltage Power Station 2 operates at an impressive voltage of 230 kV. It proudly features a cutting-edge GIS control system building and a highly secure control building, seamlessly interconnected with Phan Thong High Voltage Station, Ao Phai High Voltage Power Station, and Bo Win High Voltage Power Station. This seamless integration significantly fortifies the power infrastructure in Chonburi Province, empowering the region’s sustained economic development and progress.

The establishment of Chonburi High Voltage Power Station 2 heralds a momentous leap forward in meeting the ever-increasing electricity demands of the region, fostering a solid foundation for continuous economic prosperity and progress in the vibrant Chonburi Province.
