Prachuap Khiri Khan Province – In honor of the royal birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Prachuap Medical Unit Po.Sen. has organized a health check-up service for inmates at Prachuap Prison. The event took place on July 4, 2023, at 10:00 and was presided over by Acting Major Adisak Noisuwan, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, standing in for the Governor.
The ceremony served as a tribute to His Majesty the King and marked the beginning of activities by the 24th Por.S.W.A. mobile medical unit, which was graciously donated as a royal charity in celebration of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s birthday.
The aim of the event, as explained by Mrs. Somnet Thongyoo, Deputy Chief of Public Health in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, was to provide healthcare services to both male and female inmates within the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Prison, where over 1,800 individuals are housed.
During the event, a wide range of medical services were offered, including general medical examinations, oral health check-ups, tooth extractions, mental health counseling, COVID-19 vaccinations (1,600 doses), influenza vaccinations (200 doses), breast cancer screenings, cervical cancer screenings, and lung x-ray examinations for new inmates to prevent the spread of tuberculosis within the prison.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, having been granted the 15th provincial POW (Prisoners of War) unit in the country since 1969, has consistently organized mobile medical units to serve the community. As a testament to this dedication, the Provincial Public Health Office of Prachuap Khiri Khan, in partnership with Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital and Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Prison, has arranged this special event to honor and pay tribute to the royal occasion.
