Sriracha District Gears Up to Showcase “Sweet and Juicy Pineapple” in Spectacular Agricultural Event

Date:

In an effort to boost the popularity of its iconic agricultural products, Sriracha District is preparing to host a grand event titled “Sweet and Juicy Pineapple, Sriracha Goodies of the Year 2023.” The event, presided over by Mr. Worachak Sathaphonpinyo, Sriracha District Sheriff, is scheduled to take place between July 28 and August 6 at Sahapat Group Airport, Chonburi Province.

The main focus of the event is to showcase and promote the famous local agricultural produce, particularly Sriracha’s prized pineapples. With an aim to benefit the local community, the event will not only offer an array of agricultural products, but also feature booths selling OTOP (One Tambon One Product) goods and other community-produced items. Moreover, a captivating caravan of products organized by the Saha Group, ranging from consumer goods to mini motor shows, will add to the excitement.

One of the event’s highlights will undoubtedly be the highly anticipated “Good Pineapple Contest” and “Good Jackfruit Contest.” Participants will demonstrate their skills in pineapple processing, with categories like “Whole Pineapple Chopped Curry,” “Papaya Salad,” and “Leela Salad.” Cheerleading and the Pineapple Girl Contest, featuring young participants, will add an extra layer of charm to the event.

Speaking about the Pineapple Daughter Contest, Mr. Worachak emphasized that it presents a unique opportunity for young women between the ages of 15 and 25, who have Thai nationality and have been living in Sriracha District for at least three months, to shine. The title of Pineapple Daughter comes with a substantial prize of 30,000 baht for the winner, 20,000 baht for the first runner-up, and 10,000 baht for the second runner-up. The people’s favorite will also receive a prize of 10,000 baht.

Pineapple cultivation in Sriracha District has faced challenges due to the allure of higher prices for other agricultural products, especially cassava. At present, only 6,384 rai of pineapple plantations remain, producing approximately 40,000 tons per year. This event is expected to not only revitalize the local pineapple industry but also foster a sense of community pride and cultural appreciation.

“Sriracha Sheriff expressed confidence in the event, urging people from the district and neighboring areas to participate in the festivities and explore the wide variety of products available, with a particular emphasis on community-produced goods. With its captivating program and celebration of local flavors, the event promises to be a true extravaganza for all,” said the Sriracha Sheriff, bidding farewell to the media.

As the event “Sweet and Juicy Pineapple, Sriracha Goodies of the Year 2023” draws near, the excitement in Sriracha District continues to grow. This unique celebration of agricultural prowess and community spirit is sure to leave a lasting impression on attendees, further cementing Sriracha’s reputation as a thriving haven for pineapple lovers and enthusiasts of Thai culture.
