Pattaya Floating Market Reopens to Enthusiastic Thai and Foreign Tourists

In a recent report, it has been revealed that the Pattaya Floating Market welcomed tourists back for the first time on a day marked by enthusiasm and activity. This highly anticipated reopening attracted both Thai and foreign visitors, reaffirming the enduring appeal of this iconic attraction.

Upon reopening, visitors wasted no time in immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the floating market. They eagerly explored the diverse array of offerings, which ranged from delectable cuisine to captivating cultural performances. One notable addition to the market’s scenery was the installation of vinyl screens, strategically placed to safeguard tourists from entering areas that were impacted by a recent fire incident during construction renovations.

Ms. Sumaporn Srimuang, the General Manager of the Pattaya Floating Market, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the tourists who turned out in support and the merchants who diligently resumed their operations. The market had temporarily closed its doors after a fire crisis occurred on the night of September 7th, which necessitated the closure of the fire-affected zone in the northern area. However, the southern section along Sukhumvit Road continued to operate without interruption.

For the businesses affected by the disaster, arrangements were made to temporarily relocate and continue selling their products. Meanwhile, comprehensive plans for the restoration of the affected areas within the floating market are in progress.

Notably, the market’s reopening garnered significant attention from both Thai and international tourists. Visitors hailing from countries such as Korea, India, Vietnam, and Thailand flocked to experience the charm of the four-region floating market. This influx of tourists brought smiles to the faces of both the market’s management and the resilient merchants who have persevered through adversity.

To ensure visitor safety, an engineering assessment and structural certification have been conducted, reassuring tourists that the areas open to the public are situated away from fire-prone zones. In fact, more than 70% of the total floating market area remains accessible to tourists, with damage estimates standing at approximately 25-30%. This reassuring evaluation has rendered the Pattaya Floating Market ready and willing to provide an array of captivating performances, including sea boxing, live music bands, and traditional Thai dance shows.

As the Pattaya Floating Market reopens its doors, it extends a warm invitation to all tourists to return and rekindle their love for this iconic destination. The resilience displayed by both the market and its merchants following the recent fire incident serves as a testament to their commitment to offering a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors from around the world.
