Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin Condemns Fatal Shooting at Influential Figure’s Residence

Date:

In a somber statement, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed profound regret over the tragic shooting that claimed the life of a veteran police officer at a prominent local figure’s residence in Nakhon Pathom. The premier unequivocally stated that his government vehemently opposes any involvement in the illicit buying or selling of official positions, responding to mounting speculation suggesting a potential link between the incident and disputes over such appointments.

The heart-wrenching episode unfolded during a gathering hosted at the residence of the chief of Takong sub-district in Nakhon Pathom’s capital district, attended by several local law enforcement officers. Among the attendees were individuals vested with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the region.

Royal Thai Police Deputy Commissioner Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn disclosed that the crime scene had been tampered with, a series of disturbing actions that included the deliberate disabling of CCTV cameras, removal of blood stains, and the disposal of bullet casings. Perhaps more disconcerting was the revelation that, despite the presence of three superintendent-level police officers at the scene, critical evidence was permitted to be obliterated.

The prime minister fervently urged law enforcement agencies to conduct an exhaustive investigation into the matter, underlining the far-reaching implications of the unjust allocation or purchase of official positions on the morale and dedication of the nation’s civil servants. Thavisin’s call for an unrelenting pursuit of the truth signals a commitment to upholding integrity and justice within the ranks of government service.
