Significant Milestone: New ICU Inaugurated at Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital

Recently, a notable event transpired at Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital. Dr. Arak Wongworachat, the esteemed Director of the hospital, took the lead during the inaugural ceremony for the newly established Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Standing alongside him was Dr. Watcharapong Luangpairat, Deputy Director of the Mission for Secondary and Tertiary Services, who provided a thorough report on this significant development.

In attendance were key figures such as Mr. Kamol Kaewthet, Mayor of Prachuap City, and Dr. Songchat Siriyothiphan, former Deputy Director of Prachuap Hospital, alongside various representatives from hospitals across the province. Dr. Watcharapong Luangpairat, Deputy Director, illuminated the standing of Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital as a Level S general hospital furnished with 278 beds. The hospital’s pre-existing ICU, situated on the second floor of the Emergency Accident Building, has long been a vital hub for critical care. This facility caters to a spectrum of medical fields, including general internal medicine, internal medicine for kidney diseases, general surgery, brain surgery, and more. Housing 12 beds, including an isolation chamber, it serves patients in Mueang District and within the broader hospital network in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

In acknowledgment of the escalating need for critical care, the hospital proactively broadened its capabilities by establishing an additional ICU on the first floor of the inpatient building. This new unit, featuring 12 beds and furnished with vital medical apparatus, reaffirms the hospital’s dedication to providing timely and adept care to critically ill patients. The hospital has nurtured a multidisciplinary team, rigorously trained to manage critical and emergency situations, ensuring a high standard of care and minimizing preventable complications.
