Date:

Hua Hin, 15th November 2023 – In a significant stride towards enhancing water safety awareness, Ms. Pailin Kongpan, Deputy Mayor of Hua Hin City, assumed the role of presiding over the closing ceremony of the “Children’s Water Safety & Drowning Prevention” program. Held at the Greenway Hua Hin Resort’s swimming pool in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, the event showcased the practical skills acquired by participants during the training, culminating in the presentation of certificates and medals by Mr. Alan Cooper, the program’s chairman.

The initiative, jointly organized by the Royal Hua Hin Rotary Club, Hua Hin Municipal, and the Sawang Hua Hin Dhammasathan Foundation, unfolded over three days, from the 13th to the 15th of November 2023. Sixty students from the fifth grade of the municipal school, Khao Phitak, actively participated in the training, guided by instructors who underwent specialized training in Australia, and experts from the Hua Hin Dhammasathan Rescue Team.

This comprehensive program aimed at educating young minds on water safety strategies and drowning prevention techniques. The curriculum covered essential skills such as floating and swimming, aligning with the mission to equip children and youth with the ability to self-rescue and survive potential drowning incidents. The instructors, accredited in lifeguarding and water survival techniques, imparted knowledge crucial for handling water-related emergencies.

Officials, including Ms. Nopchet Sirisurikamonchai, Head of the Health Promotion Division at the Department of Public Health and Environment, Sawang Hua Hin Dhammasathan Rescue Team, and representatives from the Royal Hua Hin Rotary Club, actively contributed to the success of the initiative.

This collaborative effort not only serves as a testament to the commitment of various organizations towards community well-being but also marks a crucial step in fostering water safety awareness among the youth, ultimately creating a safer environment for all. The valuable skills acquired by these students ensure that they are not only equipped to protect themselves but are also capable of extending a helping hand to others in times of aquatic emergencies.
