Thailand Open 2024: Tennis Excellence Unveiled in Hua Hin


The Thailand Open 2024, a prominent women’s doubles WTA 250 tennis competition, unfolded at the Arena Tennis Courts in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, on January 29, 2024. The ceremonious kick-off was presided over by Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand. The event not only showcased sporting prowess but also featured a captivating display, “The Warrior Princess Orin Luangrabill,” symbolizing the enduring legacy of Thai martial arts.

The tournament, presented by E@, boasted a substantial total prize pool of $267,082 or approximately 10 million Thai Baht. The official opening ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, who led the proceedings, emphasizing the event’s significance. The occasion also saw the presentation of fresh flower garlands to tennis talents Teiaah Bartholomew from Australia and Zhu Lin from China, the reigning champion of the Thailand Open 2023.

Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, while addressing the audience, highlighted the tournament’s position as the fourth edition under the global sports management standards. The event not only demonstrates Thailand’s ability to organize world-class sports but also acts as a stepping stone for emerging tennis talents to transition into full-fledged professional players and world-renowned athletes. The tournament provides a platform for Thai tennis players to compete on an international stage, fostering a spirit of competition and encouraging the growth of the sport within the country.

In addition to the athletic spectacle, the opening ceremony became an opportunity to showcase the tourism and economic potential of Hua Hin through the global broadcast of the Thailand Open 2024. The main draw, taking place from January 29 to February 4, 2024, attracted 88 top-ranked women’s tennis players globally, with rankings ranging from 25 to 100. This event not only offers Thai tennis enthusiasts the rare opportunity to witness world-class tennis right at the edge of the court but also ensures extensive global coverage, broadcasted live internationally and nationally on Thai channels TOT5 and True Visions Tennis 670.
