Date:

HUA HIN, PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN – February 13, 2024 – In a move to promote sports tourism and showcase Hua Hin’s potential as a destination for cycling enthusiasts, a press conference was held at the Best Western Plus Carapaz Hua Hin Hotel on February 13, 2024. The event was attended by local officials, tourism executives, and key figures, including Mr. Pisan Sukkasem, the Head of Hua Hin District, and Mr. Adchawan Kongkarnthorn, the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Hua Hin Office.

The press conference focused on unveiling details of the upcoming “Dustman Hua Hin” cycling event scheduled for March 1-3, 2024, spanning the areas of Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Kaeng Krachan in Petchaburi. This sports tourism initiative aims to leverage the region’s natural beauty, emphasizing adventure cycling through a diverse route that combines rubber plantation trails, concrete roads, and gravel paths.

Mr. Kongpant Pramote, the Managing Director of Bike Zone Co., Ltd., the event organizer, highlighted the growing success of the Dustman Hua Hin event since its inception in 2565 (2022). The event, recognized as the pioneering adventure cycling competition in Thailand, has witnessed a significant increase in participants, surpassing 200 cyclists from both local and international communities in the previous year.

For this edition, the organizers have added a 35-kilometer scenic route, aiming to provide a unique cycling experience that allows participants to explore the natural wonders inaccessible by traditional means. Additionally, the event aims to contribute to local culture preservation by incorporating traditional handwoven fabrics, produced by elderly artisans from Hua Hin, into commemorative items for the cyclists.

Mr. Adchawan Kongkarnthorn from TAT emphasized the significance of Hua Hin as a pivotal tourist destination in Thailand. He outlined the government’s commitment to promoting tourism through events like Dustman Hua Hin, aligning with the “365 Days of Travel” concept. This strategy aims to position Hua Hin as a year-round tourism hotspot.

In conclusion, the Dustman Hua Hin cycling event not only strengthens Hua Hin’s reputation as a sports tourism hub but also aligns with global cycling trends. As the event continues to garner international attention, it serves as a catalyst for the economic growth of Prachuap Khiri Khan, opening up opportunities for local communities and businesses.
