Thailand Takes Action to Ease Air Travel Costs

Date:

On February 28, 2024, a viral controversy erupted in the online realm following a post by Khun Koi, a popular figure from the TikTok channel “Jae Koi Soi Laek.” She shared a clip of herself participating in a fast eating competition, captioned with determination but expressing regret over her lack of style. The event, featuring a Japanese food eating contest, was part of the Battle Remembrance event held at Hua Ban Community Cultural Road in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, on February 22.

The contentious clip stirred discussions and criticism from netizens, prompting Khun Koi to voice her concerns on her personal Facebook page. In her statement, she expressed dissatisfaction with the organizer’s response, particularly regarding the seriousness of the competition and threats of legal action over the clip’s publication.

In an interview with reporters, Khun Koi elaborated on her participation, highlighting the competition’s criteria which allocated 70 points for speed and 30 points for style in eating Japanese food. Despite being declared the initial winner for finishing her meal in just four minutes, the first prize was later awarded to the runner-up, citing Khun Koi’s perceived lack of style. She expressed disappointment but chose not to contest the decision, emphasizing her desire to showcase her experiences and promote tourism through her participation in over 200 competitions.

Moreover, Khun Koi raised suspicions about the organizer’s involvement in the outcome, suggesting favoritism towards a contestant who dropped an orange during the event. She called for transparency and justice in addressing the matter.

In response to the controversy, Mrs. Wanna Srijulangkul, Deputy Mayor of Prachuap Khiri Khan City, provided clarification regarding the event’s organization. She emphasized adherence to competition rules and fair judgment by impartial committee members from government agencies. Mrs. Wanna dismissed allegations of unfair treatment and assured that there would be no legal action against Khun Koi. She expressed willingness to engage Khun Koi as a guest in future events to demonstrate fast eating, aiming to resolve the misunderstanding
