The Eastern Tiger Cubs Select Team Hopes to Join the U17 World Football Tournament

Under the leadership of “Madame Pang,” Ms. Nuanpan Lamsum, President of the Football Association of Thailand, various initiatives have been launched to support the development of Thai youth football. The latest collaboration with FIFA involves the “FA Thailand Talent ID” event, aiming to identify talented young athletes for the Thai national team, particularly targeting the U17 squad for participation in the U17 World Football Tournament in 2025.

The event, held on March 16-17, saw the Football Association of Thailand, in conjunction with FIFA, organizing talent scouting activities across the Eastern and Western regions of Thailand. The scouting sessions took place at the Elephant Park Football Stadium in Chonburi Province for the Eastern region and at Arena Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province for the Western region.

Led by Mr. Songsit Klinasrikul, Acting Technical Director, Mr. Chayakorn Thanadetdeankoon, Head Coach of the U17 national team, Mr. Natthawat Vetchbul, and Mr. Chawannan Daengcharoen, regional coaches, the scouting team assessed players from both regions. A total of 90 players were selected from the two rounds of scouting sessions. These players’ data will be compared with those from other regions to finalize a squad of 44 players during the first U17 national team camp at Pattaya Sports Resort, Chonburi Province, from April 5-8.

Following this, officials from the Football Association of Thailand will proceed to scout young talents aged under 17 in the Bangkok Metropolitan and surrounding areas at the Sports Development Center of Bangkok Thonburi University on March 23-24.
