Thailand Temporarily Suspends Immigration Form to Streamline Entry Process

Date:

In a bid to streamline immigration procedures and alleviate congestion, the government has announced a temporary halt to the ‘To Mo 6’ (TM6) immigration form for foreign travelers at various land and sea entry points. Effective from April 15 to October 15, this move marks a concerted effort to enhance the efficiency of border crossings.

The TM6 form, which mandates foreigners to furnish passport and travel particulars upon entry and exit, was previously scrapped for air travelers in July 2022. Now, the suspension extends to sixteen immigration checkpoints across Thailand, spanning both land and maritime entries.

For land crossings, the eased regulation applies to checkpoints in Sa Kaeo, Mukdahan, Nong Khai, Chiang Rai, Songkhla, Narathiwat, and Yala. Notably, the Mukdahan and Nong Khai checkpoints will only enforce this suspension for travelers utilizing designated overland and rail transportation routes.

Similarly, maritime entries will witness simplified procedures at ports in Chon Buri, Rayong, Phuket, Krabi, and Surat Thani. This encompasses renowned tourist hotspots like Pattaya, Phuket, and Samui, where the suspension aims to facilitate smoother entry for individuals arriving via cruise ships and yachts.

This strategic six-month relaxation of immigration controls aligns with Thailand’s broader agenda to enhance tourism accessibility and border efficiency. The selected checkpoints, identified based on their significant influx of foreign visitors and pivotal role in international travel, underscore the government’s commitment to fostering a more seamless travel experience
