Urgent Reforms Needed to Restore Hope Among Thai Youth

Date:

Former Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun has called for urgent action to address educational inequality and restore hope among Thailand’s youth. Speaking at the seminar “The Scenario of Thai Society Future,” organized by the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Anand emphasized the critical need for comprehensive reforms.

The seminar, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the PDA, served as a platform for Anand to stress the importance of youth in shaping Thailand’s future. He expressed deep concern about the growing number of young Thais seeking opportunities abroad, driven by a lack of faith in their homeland. According to Anand, this trend is fueled by widespread disillusionment stemming from immorality in various sectors, including the selfishness of politicians, pervasive social inequality, and the erosion of democratic principles.

Anand highlighted that the youth’s loss of trust extends to Thailand’s legislative, administrative, and judicial systems. He urged that immediate reforms are necessary to address these issues and to rekindle the younger generation’s faith in their country’s future. The former prime minister’s remarks underscored the vital role of the youth in ensuring a prosperous and equitable society for Thailand.

In his closing remarks, Anand called on policymakers and society at large to work together to create an environment where young people feel valued and hopeful. The seminar concluded with discussions on potential strategies to combat these challenges, emphasizing a collective effort to rebuild trust and opportunities within the nation.
