On June 2, Pattaya police conducted raids on four bars located in different parts of the city following allegations that these establishments were operating beyond legal hours. The bars were situated on Soi Kho Phai, South Pattaya Road, and Pattaya Third Road.
During the raid, one host bar was found to be selling alcohol without the required licenses. Additionally, some of the bars were discovered to be selling beverages infused with kratom, a tropical evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia, without proper licensing.
Charges have been filed against these establishments, and the police are considering the permanent closure of bars that have persistently violated the law. However, due to ongoing legal proceedings, the names of the bars and the individuals involved have not been disclosed.
In Pattaya, the legal closing times for bars vary depending on their location and specific licenses, typically allowing them to operate from midnight until 4 a.m. The Pattaya police have pledged to maintain vigilant oversight of bar establishments and entertainment venues to ensure compliance with all Thai laws.
Officials in attendance emphasized the importance of adherence to legal operating hours and the necessary licensing for alcohol and other substances. This crackdown reflects ongoing efforts to regulate nightlife in Pattaya and ensure public safety.
