The government announced that the Thai national team has secured 42 spots for the 33rd Olympic Games, set to take place in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024. This announcement marks a significant milestone as Thailand prepares to compete on the world stage.
There are still opportunities for Thai athletes to gain more slots in sports such as golf, athletics, judo, and swimming through upcoming qualifying rounds, which will continue until early July.
Currently, the qualifications include nine athletes in badminton, eight in boxing, five in cycling, two in kiteboarding, two in sailing, three in shooting, one in modern pentathlon, three in taekwondo, one in equestrian, three in table tennis, four in weightlifting, and one in rowing.
France, as the host nation, will award a total of 329 gold medals across 32 sports, with an estimated 10,500 athletes from around the globe expected to compete in the final rounds in Paris.
