On June 11, 2024, a momentous event unfolded at Nong Nooch Pattaya Garden, orchestrated by none other than Mr. Kamphon Tansajja, the esteemed president of the garden, and his dedicated executive team. The occasion marked the ceremonial welcome of Nong Chang, a cherished tradition deeply ingrained in the fabric of Nong Nooch Garden Pattaya. Amidst the lush expanse of the 200-rai Prakam Chang Shrine, nestled within the garden’s verdant embrace, the stage was set for a venerable gathering.
In attendance were revered figures such as Phrakhru Silasarathikhun, the Abbot of Khao Khanthamath Temple in Sattahip Subdistrict, and Phrakru Kasem Kittisophon, Abbot of Wat Samakkhi Banphot in Phlu Ta Luang Subdistrict. These spiritual leaders graced the ceremony with their presence, adding a solemn aura to the proceedings.

The highlight of the event was the arrival of two majestic elephants, “Plai Mithun” and “Pang Nong June,” heralded by a procession of Thaksinapirom dancers. Over 30 elephants, adorned with garlands and strings, joined the welcoming parade, a spectacle that enraptured onlookers. In a gesture of reverence, anointing powder was applied to the foreheads of the mother elephant and her calf, symbolizing blessings and good fortune.
Remarkably, both elephants had given birth on June 1st, a rare occurrence that bestowed upon them the title of twin elephants, albeit from different mothers. The healthy offspring, under the attentive care of Nong Nooch Tropical Elephant Camp in Pattaya, symbolized a promising future for the sanctuary.

This momentous event marked a significant milestone in the history of Nong Nooch Garden Pattaya, where such a simultaneous birth had never occurred before. With a total of 77 elephants under their guardianship, the garden’s team of veterinarians and mahouts ensured the well-being of these gentle giants. Their exemplary care was duly recognized, as evidenced by the prestigious certificate of good practice standards bestowed upon the elephant camp by the Department of Livestock Development and the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards. This accolade not only affirmed their commitment to excellence but also distinguished Nong Nooch Garden Elephant Camp as a trailblazer in Thailand’s conservation efforts.
