In Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan, a cycling event was recently held to celebrate the 72nd birthday of His Majesty the King, marking his completion of six cycles, as well as to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The event, part of the “Bike for Earth: Honoring the King” project, aimed to demonstrate loyalty and offer best wishes to the King. The initiative also served as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit ahead of her upcoming birthday in August 2024.
Led by Dr. Wiwat Salyakamthorn, President of the Natural Agriculture Foundation, the cycling project brought together participants from 14 provinces across Thailand. The journey began in Nakhon Si Thammarat and is set to conclude in Nan Province in mid-August. The event not only honored the royal family but also emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability.
Bang Saphan District Chief Suthin Prasertsak presided over the opening ceremony, highlighting the community’s commitment to these values. The event featured a collaboration between public and private sectors, including SVL Group, which participated by distributing free Thai desserts to cyclists and attendees. The presence of local residents, community leaders, and network partners underscored the collective spirit of unity, love, and loyalty that characterized the event.
In addition to the cycling activities, the event showcased a vibrant array of cultural experiences along the 100-Year Community Cultural Road in Kamnoet Noppakhun Subdistrict. The celebrations included exhibitions, local food and drink stalls, and OTOP products, reflecting the rich cultural traditions of Bang Saphan. Various games and activities were organized to engage visitors and highlight the area’s creative local wisdom, arts, and culture.
It was reported that the event was well-attended by community members and officials, further cementing the ties between the residents and the larger regional community. The event served as both a tribute to the royal family and a means to stimulate the local tourism economy through the promotion of Bang Saphan’s cultural heritage.
