The 2024 TKC Hua Hin Cup snooker tournament officially commenced on August 26, 2024, at the Hua Hin Grand Hotel and Plaza. The event is part of the Division 1 professional snooker ranking series for the year. It was reported that Mr. Ongrak Thongniramol, the Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, presided over the opening ceremony, with Mr. Amorn Pattana, a member of the Hua Hin Municipal Council, also attending as a guest of honor.
The professional snooker ranking tournament has been organized annually by the Billiard Sports Association of Thailand, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, since 2002. The event has seen continuous development over the years, with each tournament being held in different regions of Thailand to stimulate the local economy and promote sports tourism in those areas.
For the 2024 season, the Billiard Sports Association of Thailand has already hosted five Division 1 ranking events. The current competition marks the sixth event of the year and features the top 16 players competing in the final rounds.
During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Governor presented fresh flower garlands to the referees and the players of the opening match, Mr. Dechawat Poomjaeng and Mr. Anekthana Saengnil, as a gesture of encouragement. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries and representatives from different organizations. Following the presentation, attendees watched the first match of the tournament. It was reported that the event not only highlights competitive snooker but also aims to foster community engagement and economic activity in the region.
