Russian Man Arrested on Koh Phangan for Overstaying Visa

A 31-year-old Russian national, identified as Sergei, was arrested by the Koh Phangan Tourist Police on September 3 for overstaying his visa by 198 days. Local authorities had received multiple complaints about a foreign man reportedly loitering and sleeping along the roadside in Moo 3, Koh Phangan Subdistrict. The man was also seen soliciting money and food from villagers in front of local shops.

Upon his arrest, Sergei admitted to the actions, which had raised concerns among residents in the area. It was reported that local police took action after confirming his immigration status and detaining him for further legal proceedings.
