Authorities continue their search for the missing vessel Porntavee, which vanished on September 16 during a severe storm, along with its captain and four passengers. The boat, en route to Koh Sukorn in Trang Province, has yet to be located despite extensive efforts.
The Porntavee, a 25-ton vessel captained by Supit Khaowdee, locally known as Bang Poo, disappeared mid-journey after departing from Palian Canal, Trang. The boat was carrying three other passengers—Fak Khaowdee, Chant Songlong, and Mon Madlu—when it encountered high winds and rough seas. The vessel never arrived at Koh Sukorn, commonly referred to as Pig Island, sparking immediate concerns.
Following a public appeal, the SOS Maritime group issued alerts to seafarers in Trang and Satun Provinces, urging them to assist in locating the missing vessel. Local fishing boats, transport vessels, marine police, and rescue teams have conducted extensive searches around the waters of Palian District in Trang and Thung Wa District in Satun, but no trace of the boat or its passengers has been found.
The search operation, coordinated by officials from the Koh Sukorn Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO), remains ongoing. Authorities have called on passing vessels, particularly those navigating between Tha Kham and Koh Sukorn, to stay alert and report any sightings.
As of now, rescue teams continue their efforts, hoping for any signs that could lead to the recovery of the missing Porntavee and its passengers.
