BANGKOK — Thai actress Mint Chalida Vijitvongtong is urging authorities to take action after her younger brother, Moss, was assaulted by a foreigner at a cafe in Bangkok’s Ratchada Soi 3. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 25, 2024, at SEOUL 3 Cafe. Despite filing a police report, there has been little progress in the case, raising concerns that the suspect may leave the country on October 3.
Chalida explained that Moss had gone to the cafe after receiving a call from staff, who reported that a group of foreigners had intruded and were attacking employees. Upon his arrival, one of the foreign individuals kicked him in the face. Moss sustained physical injuries, including bruises, and has since been struggling emotionally.
“Our family is deeply affected by this. Moss is physically hurt, but the emotional toll is significant. We’re doing our best to support him,” Chalida shared during an interview on September 29.
The actress expressed frustration with the pace of the investigation. Despite clear CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, she stated that the police have delayed issuing an arrest warrant, citing the need for a forensic report. Chalida also questioned why no drug tests were performed on the perpetrator, who appeared visibly agitated during the incident.
Chalida voiced her concerns about the case being handled through mediation, given the clear evidence available. “This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I just want the law to be enforced properly and to protect us,” she stated, adding that she feels compelled to speak out on behalf of her brother and other Thai citizens who may face similar situations.
She concluded by calling for stronger legal protections for Thai nationals, noting, “We are not asking for special treatment, just for the law to be upheld.”
Moss has filed a report at Huai Khwang Police Station, and the family awaits further developments as the October 3 departure date for the perpetrator approaches.
