Miss Thailand Places Third Runner-Up at Miss Universe 2024

Date:

Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, Miss Universe Thailand 2024, achieved a remarkable feat by securing the title of third runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant held on Sunday morning in Mexico City. The 21-year-old Phuket native impressed the judges with her elegance, intellect, and advocacy for breast cancer awareness.

Standing at 180 cm tall, Suchata hails from a family that manages a hotel in Phuket. A graduate of Trium Udom Suksa School, she is currently pursuing international relations at Thammasat University’s Faculty of Political Science. Fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese, she has combined her academic and linguistic prowess to excel in the international arena.

Suchata’s pageant journey began with her debut at Miss Rattanakosin in 2021. She later became the youngest contestant in the 2022 Miss Universe Thailand competition, where she earned the third runner-up position and the Miss Natural Beauty award. In July 2024, she was crowned Miss Universe Thailand, solidifying her place as a rising star in the beauty pageant world.

Her participation in pageants is deeply personal. At 16, she underwent surgery to remove a 10-centimeter breast tumor. This life-altering experience inspired her to advocate for breast cancer awareness on both national and global platforms.

The Miss Universe 2024 title was awarded to Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, with Miss Nigeria and Miss Mexico named first and second runners-up, respectively.
