On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., a Norwegian tourist stranded atop Khao Takiab Mountain in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, was successfully rescued after coordinating efforts by local authorities and emergency services.
The Hua Hin Hospital EMS Center alerted officers about the situation after receiving a call for assistance. The tourist, identified as 31-year-old Mr. Foss Vebjorn, had climbed the mountain alone via the Khao Takiab Temple route. However, upon attempting to descend, he became fearful of falling and contacted authorities for help.
A coordinated rescue effort was launched involving the Tourist Police Bureau, Hua Hin Police Station, and Sawang Hua Hin Thammasathan Rescue Unit. Officers, including Police Lieutenant Colonel Setthathorn Khanama, Police Sergeant Major Chinkorn Kraiwilas, and Police Sergeant Major Jariyaporn Hatkla, responded promptly to the scene.
Rescue teams accompanied Mr. Vebjorn back down the mountain safely, ensuring his wellbeing. Following the rescue, the tourist expressed gratitude to the Tourist Police and all officials involved in securing his safe return.
Khao Takiab Mountain, known for its stunning views and popular temple, is a frequently visited site in Hua Hin. However, authorities urge caution for tourists engaging in climbing activities to prevent similar incidents.
