Swedish Tourist Robbed of 42,000 Baht in Pattaya

Date:

PATTAYA — A Swedish tourist reported losing approximately 42,000 baht in valuables after being targeted by a thief early Wednesday morning.

Lars Reikwike, 65, informed police near Pattaya City 8 School at around 3:30 a.m. that a man had approached him and stolen a gold ring valued at 40,000 baht, along with 2,000 baht in cash.

A motorbike taxi driver, 50-year-old Winai, witnessed the incident and stated that the tourist appeared to be intoxicated while waiting for a taxi on the roadside. Winai said a suspect, described as potentially transsexual, engaged the foreigner before the theft occurred. Although he attempted to intervene, the thief managed to flee before police arrived.

The motorcyclist claimed the suspect is known to frequent the area, raising concerns about recurring crimes in the vicinity. Authorities are investigating the incident and searching for the perpetrator.
