Thailand Welcomes Its First Three Michelin-Starred Restaurant

Date:

Sorn, a celebrated restaurant specializing in southern Thai cuisine, has become the first in Thailand to earn the prestigious three Michelin stars. The announcement was made during the unveiling of the Michelin Guide Thailand 2025 in Bangkok on Wednesday, marking a historic moment for Thai gastronomy.

Led by Chef Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri, Sorn was recognized for its “excellence, quality, and consistency.” Located in a traditional Thai house on Sukhumvit Soi 26, the restaurant offers a meticulously crafted set menu priced at 7,200 baht. Reservations are highly sought after, opening on the 15th of each month for the following month.

Sorn had previously held two Michelin stars for five consecutive years, earning acclaim since its debut in the 2019 edition of the guide. Its promotion reflects the growing global recognition of Thai culinary arts.

The 2025 Michelin Guide includes 462 establishments, featuring seven two-starred and 28 one-starred restaurants. Côte by Mauro Colagreco joins the two-starred category, while four restaurants—Akkee, Avant, Goat, and Aulis—earned their first Michelin star, with Akkee located in Nonthaburi and Aulis in Phang-Nga.

In addition, 20 new entries from Chon Buri were featured, and Coda was promoted from the Michelin Selected category to one star. However, Sushi Masato, Canvas, Cadence by Dan Bark, and Khao Ekkamai did not retain their stars this year.

The milestone reflects Thailand’s dynamic dining scene and its growing status as a global culinary destination.
