On 7 January 2025, Rotarians gathered for the official handover of a classroom construction project at the Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School, located in the mountainous region of Pala-U. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony, aims to provide critical infrastructure for the school, which serves 151 students in grades 1 through 6.
The expansion of the classroom space, along with the provision of new desks and chairs, was made possible through the generosity of Rotarians and supporters. In addition to the physical improvements to the school, the project also included donations of a truckload of second-hand clothes for local villagers, a sponsored lunch and ice cream for the children, and a special contribution of 100 kilograms of rice from the Burgess family.
The school is well-maintained, and its students take part in an organic fruit and vegetable garden, which supplies fresh produce for their meals. The handover event marked another successful community service project, showcasing the ongoing partnership and commitment to local development through Rotary’s multi-club fellowship.
The Rotary International theme for January, “Vocational Service,” encourages members to leverage their skills and expertise to benefit their communities. This classroom construction is a testament to how Rotary clubs are putting this principle into practice, with plans for continued collaboration on future service projects.
